Unity in Question (Part 1) - Scotland's Independence

Unity in Question (Part 1) - Scotland's Independence     On January 31 2020, at 11.00pm GMT, the United Kingdom successfully and officially withdrew from the European Union, closing a 4-year long chapter that we call, Brexit. But to really understand Brexit, let's go back to 2016, the year of Trump, Zika and the Olympics. When then British Prime Minister, David Cameron, pushed forward Brexit and held a referendum on whether Britain should leave the EU and with a 77% voter turnout, 51.9% of people voted to leave and 48.1% to stay. But, when looking at how certain areas voted, you can see something quite peculiar indeed. Those are the results of Northern Ireland and Scotland. These areas had huge swarms of people who voted to stay. In Northern Ireland, it was 55% while in Scotland, that was 62%. In some areas, such as Glasgow and Edinburgh (the larger cities in Scotland), this was as high as 65% to leave. This election not only showed a significant amount of people who th...

Deadvertising Zarm Zam's Blogger (89) - Shorts

Deadvertising Zarm Zam's Blogger (89)     It was the 21st of April 2021 and I was casually scrolling through my Internet Feed when I saw a great injustice done to me...     I grabbed my phone and started to blog this exact article you're reading here. We all know who is Zarm Zam, he has a Opinion Corner but wait... where's he opinion? It's only random history facts only a history nerd like Zarm Zam would bother to read about.      Next up, let's talk about the number of views he has. Now I don't have an exact number but I will predict he has 250 views. Meanwhile on this Opinion Corner with actual Opinions and blog articles that not takes you a minute to read like on his Corner but at least 6 minutes, I have a whopping 2400 views!      Next up, look at the beautiful Arial font I use to write my blog. Then look at Zarm Zam's default font that he uses. With its stupidly sharp edges and curved numeral digits.      Final...

A 'Let's Remember' Update

A 'Let's Remember' Update     Hello bloggers, gamers, netizens and the 105 million 9-year olds on the internet, it's Farren from his Opinion Corner. How's everyone? Anyway, let's not beat-around-the-bush for 4 minutes 42 seconds and 3 milliseconds (average time for readers to read an article on FOC) instead, let's get right into the news...     Now over the course of the existence of the Opinion Corner, I have regularly posted these 'Let's Remember' Articles to 'Remember' a certain month. This helps me to write about different topics under a single article and also to help cover the slightly unimportant articles. For example, in Let's Remember: February 2021 , I talked about Perseverance, the NASA rover that landed on Mars. Or the example in Let's Remember: January 2021 when I wrote about a sudden explosion of cases in different parts of the world. Then, when it came to March, I realised what a stupid thing this was. Writing '...

RMS Titanic: 109 Years On - Shorts

RMS Titanic: 109 Years On - Shorts     Today is April 15, 2021, as of writing I mean. April has been a very 'messy' month for a long time. From the start of the Civil War to the San Francisco Earthquake, it hasn't been 'smooth sailing' for this month. Actually that was an unintentional pun. Today, 109 years ago, was the day the now infamous RMS Titanic supposedly hit an Iceberg and sank. Now, true viewers of this blog will know that I have friend called Andy who is an expert in this area. He also has a YouTube Channel which I have linked down below twice. Go check him out! Anyways let's get into the history of the Titanic... The RMS Titanic was first commissioned by White Star Line, a cruise company in 1908. The Titanic began construction off the coast of Belfast in Northern Ireland before being completed in 1912. The Ship sailed and made its way down to Southampton, UK to load passengers on its maiden voyage to New York. The ship went to Cherbourg, France then ...

The 'Not Good' Topics - Update Three

The 'Not Good' Topics - Update Three     Welcome to Update Three of Farren's Opinion Corner. After writing 20 articles and over 1800 views, I want to show a more transparent view on the actual effort of writing the many articles that make up FOC. So today, let's begin with the 'Not Good Topics' or in other words, a topic that after passing the phase one and two of an article, which is the thinking and the researching phase, completely crash and burn in either the third or fourth phase which are the writing and publishing phase.  The 'Not Good' Topics       Firstly, let's begin with a topic I really wanted to write on in the beginning. The Novel Coronavirus: Comparing Vaccines . This topic was researched, written and was meant to be published on January 23. Then, I realise that there was a huge problem with it and the explanation on the Pfizer Vaccine and it's efficacy rate. In the end, I scheduled to release it on 8 February 2021 but ins...

The Legacy of the Prince Philip - Shorts

The Legacy of Prince Philip - Shorts So I was heading home from the nearby mall when my phone lit up with royal news. Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh better known as the husband of Queen Elizabeth II has died at Windsor Castle at the old age of 99. I mean that guy lived a long and well-lived life. And he has become a huge part of the royal family. Born in 1921 in Greece and then served the British Army before marrying into royalty in 1947, he had a few nice children and has been quite a big figure especially on holidays and journeys with Queen Elizabeth. Who knows what legacy he will take on? Just another royal family member or one of a kind? The last time we saw him publicly was probably that picture he took on his 99th birthday last year with him and Queen Elizabeth standing in greenery. Looking through much of his photos and images, I'd say he took on a more regimental impression than a royal one. Most of his pictures are him in military uniform (which looks cool though) while...

Suez Canal - The Backbone of the World

Suez Canal - The Backbone of the World     On the 23rd of March 2021, a 400-metre long mega Cargo Ship slammed into the siding of the Suez Canal. Over the next 7 days, while the ship attempted to refloat, the world lost roughly $2 Billion USD thanks to a choke point in one of the world's most important link way. This 193km canal has started wars, invasions and a lot more chaos. This is the story of the backbone of the world - The Suez Canal. Where is the Suez Canal?     The Suez Canal is located entirely in Egypt. Go onto whatever online map you're looking at, and type in 'Egypt'. Egypt is split into two parts. The main  part and the not the main part . The 'not the main part' is called the Sinai Peninsula which is the part of Egypt that sticks awkwardly out from the main part, which is called a panhandle. The Sinai Peninsula is the sparsely populated part of Egypt, the section in between the Mainland and the Sinai Peninsula is the rough spot of where the Suez ...

Panther Breakout: One Year On - Shorts

Panther Breakout: One Year On - Shorts On the 31st of March, 2020 at roughly 2 in the morning, in the city of Nortroo, laid the famous Nortroo Zoo, which due to an internal error, a huge group of Black Panthers had escaped and trashed the city killing hundreds. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Ghotya immediately issued a nationwide announcement. This was the story of the now infamous Panther Breakout which killed around 800 and injured more than 7000.  The Panthers spread and the country was infested. All international trade ceased and all citizens went into hideouts. The United Nations was in panic and launched a global operation to take back Ghotya. But the panthers spread and made its way outwards to nearby Desjolk, the neighbouring country. All countries nearby went into full-scale lockdown. Prime Minister of Ghotya, Mr. Yutave Apoblam was found dead in his bunker. Democracy in Ghotya had collapsed. After more information was collected, it found that roughly 12 panthers es...
