The 'Not Good' Topics - Update Three
Welcome to Update Three of Farren's Opinion Corner. After writing 20 articles and over 1800 views, I want to show a more transparent view on the actual effort of writing the many articles that make up FOC. So today, let's begin with the 'Not Good Topics' or in other words, a topic that after passing the phase one and two of an article, which is the thinking and the researching phase, completely crash and burn in either the third or fourth phase which are the writing and publishing phase.

The 'Not Good' Topics

Firstly, let's begin with a topic I really wanted to write on in the beginning. The Novel Coronavirus: Comparing Vaccines. This topic was researched, written and was meant to be published on January 23. Then, I realise that there was a huge problem with it and the explanation on the Pfizer Vaccine and it's efficacy rate. In the end, I scheduled to release it on 8 February 2021 but instead, I abandoned the article completely.

Next, was an article that I definitely regret not posting and even more regret deleting it completely. This was the article called Flight Delayed: The Aviation Crisis. Where I wrote about COVID-19 and the crisis the aviation industry was facing. I began writing this article in around Mid-February but the writing phase was horrible. I spent roughly 2 hours adding and tweaking random parts before stuffing the article altogether.  I've not abandoned it yet so it still might come around soon but I'm not posting it anytime soon.

Next up, was a collection of articles that eventually merged into one article. The It's time to Get Serious about Climate Change article was a collection of various articles all cut and chopped to the most key of details. The collection of these articles would have been called Green Cities. Ideas include Biophilic Design, #TeamTrees, Cycling, Education etc. I was ready to write easily 5 articles on Green Cities before my passion further increased with the launch of How to Avoid a Climate Disaster by Bill Gates. However, I found out that his book wouldn't be available in Singapore till roughly March, so I was doomed. I drafted a few articles but instead decided to take bits of the 5 articles and merge them into one.

Another topic that I abandoned on 7 April, was the idea of a collection of articles called HASHTAG. The idea of the articles would be to discuss the impact of Social Media and it's evolution. I had planned two articles for this which were HASHTAG: The Social Media Age and HASHTAG: The Shame and The Suffer. The second one was inspired after reading a book called So You've been Publicly Shamed by Jon Robson, a book about the social shaming on the internet. It was planned to be released on April 12 and April 22 but in the end, I realised the article would be way too short (like it would have taken 2 minutes to read short) so I tried to expand the plot but it ended up backfiring. Once again though, it's still sitting in my drafts file so it might happen one day. Just maybe.

Well it's been fun internet. Have a fruitful day ahead, wherever you are in our planet.

Happy Reading!
